Chance to hear both sides of wind farm debate; Lotus turbines rejected

A parish council is holding a public meeting on Friday to discuss controversial proposals to build seven 130m wind turbines.

Hempnall Parish Council has invited wind farm developers Enertrag, South Norfolk Council and protest group SHOWT (Stop Hempnall’s Onshore Wind Turbines) to attend the meeting in Hempnall Village Hall, 7.30pm.

The aim of the meeting is to allow the parish council and residents to hear both sides of the arguments for and against the proposed wind turbines on land at Busseys Loke, close to the village.

It will also provide a chance for parish councillors to gauge local opinions and for the council and public to ask questions.

# Proposals to build a windfarm at Lotus Cars’ Hethel test track have been rejected.

South Norfolk Council turned down the planning application following concerns by the Ministry of Defence, who claimed the scheme would cause ‘unacceptable interference’ to the air defence radar at Trimingham.

It was also refused due to the visual intrusion on the surrounding countryside.
