I was disgusted to hear of plans to build more turbines here.
We have too many already.
I am fiercely opposed to wind farm development on the grounds that there is no scientific evidence to indicate these ugly turbines are in any way efficient.
The operators use flawed criteria to justify them, criteria that is just not practicable in the real world in terms of normal household requirements. We will one day all be living in the dark if these proposals continue.
The intermittent energy they produce is extremely expensive and the energy they consume in manufacture is totally disproportionate to the benefits of the end product.
It is a myth that wind turbines are ‘clean’ energy.
Cement manufacture is acknowledged as one of the most polluting industries in the country and each turbine requires around 100 tons of concrete for the base, the manufacturing process produces quantities of toxic waste and heavy metals from smelting the various metals required, steel, aluminium and copper, which have a lasting detrimental effect so it is anything but clean energy. The recent climate report indicates that renewables are the most expensive form of climate control, and these are the governments own figures.
The only way forward for clean and reliable carbon free energy is the nuclear option.
France has 80 per cent of its energy from nuclear and if we do not follow that lead I am afraid we are doomed as we cannot rely on gas from unstable countries (gas also produces C0²) and renewables are just a joke, as the energy is not constant. Not one power station has closed due to the wind turbines we have now.
