Wind farm threatens eagles

Florida Power and Light is building a wind farm near Crystal Lake and wants to run the power lines along the Winnebago River.

In Hancock County this would take the line through a wildlife area (Torkelson Pits) and within 250 feet of an active eagle’s nest. I would hate to see the eagles chased off by this construction.

I also would like to know what good this wind farm is going to be to the people of Hancock County or to the people of Iowa. Our power bills will not go down. A few land owners will get a few dollars but overall there are not any benefit to the residents of Hancock County.

Maybe FPL can bully the eagles into signing an easement.
