Park-edge windfarm is set for approval

Planning officials are recommending approval of a major windfarm complex despite hearing it would have a “significantly detrimental effect” on the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Developers Pennant Walters will apply to Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council tomorrow for permission to erect 15 wind turbines, each around 370ft tall, on land at Glynneath.

There have been a number of objections largely on the grounds of visual intrusion, loss of public land, threat to birds, effects on farming, property values and TV and radio reception.

The Brecon Beacons National Park Authority also objected.

It told Neath Port Talbot Council’s planning and development control committee which will discuss the windfarm would be visible from several parts of the Beacons.
