Thursday, noon – An action group has been formed to fight proposals for a huge wind farm north of Grantham.
BLOT – Belvoir Locals Opposing Turbines – was created on Monday after almost 200 villagers attended a debate on the plans for ten 410ft turbines within a two-mile radius of eight villages in and around the Vale of Belvoir.
A vote was taken before and after the debate and the final count showed 165 people were against, 17 were undecided and five were in favour.
The action group now has task forces working in each village, including Long Bennington, Bottesford and Normanton, Foston, Allington and Sedgebrook.
Each will focus on producing robust arguments against the plans, which are expected to be submitted by Dorset-based firm Infinergy next month.
Their main areas of concern are health and safety, noise, flicker and strobe, the effect on businesses and tourism, loss of amenities, environmental impact, efficiency and cost, road safety and visual impact.
They also plan to set up a campaign website and co-ordinate opposition to the planning application when it is submitted to South Kesteven District Council.
