A wind turbine has been installed at a farm where a public inquiry was held over previous plans for a much larger machine.
Blackburn with Darwen Council approved plans, submitted by Angus and Julia Dootson, for a 12-metre turbine at Uglow Farm in Broadhead Road, Turton, in August.
Protesters previously spent two-and-a-half years fighting plans for two 95-metre wind turbines at the farm. They won their battle in September, last year, after a four-day public inquiry.
But neighbours were happy to have a smaller turbine. The neighbour who led the original protests, Kathryn Rodgers, even wrote a letter of support for the application.
The Iskra AT5-1 turbine was installed by Segen Ltd, of Bolton, on October 9.
The company told the council the turbine would be efficient and quiet and comparable in height to the wooden power posts that already exist in the countryside.
A spokesman for Segen said: “Julia uses the power from her turbine for her house and will soon be selling surplus power back to her electricity power supplier.”
The campaign group said it spent around £50,000 fighting the original plans for the two 95-metre high wind turbines. At the close of the public inquiry the group said it was money well spent.
