The Forestry Commission is trying to appoint consultants to quantify the potential for windfarms in its estates across the UK.
In England, 12 forest districts are to be assessed. In Wales and Scotland, a further 18 are to be assessed.
Wales has already been assessed for its potential to deliver large-scale windfarms in forestry. Two-thirds of the land included in seven strategic search areas across the country is managed by the Forestry Commission. The result of a tender for options to develop large-scale windfarms on Forestry Commission land is pending.
The Forestry Commission has not undertaken any public consultation on the decision to locate huge wind factories on its land in Wales.
