Tractor trailer drops a massive load

A truck driver transporting the midsection of a huge wind energy turbine lost his load on the I-37 frontage road near Rand Morgan.

It happened around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Police say the driver was supposed to be following a state ordered route, but that he got off track and tried to make a sharp turn.

That was his undoing, the back part of the tractor trailer went into a ditch, the weight of the 85-thousand pound load shifted, and it fell off the truck.

It took crews about 4 hours to get the load back on the truck and on its way back to the port of Corpus Christi. The truck driver got a ticket for diverting from that state ordered route.
