Exhibition reveals plans for windfarm close to A1

Friday, 4pm – A public exhibition outlining plans for a huge windfarm close to the A1 heading north out of Grantham was held on Wednesday and another is taking place today.

Dorset-based Infinergy displayed the results of extensive tests they have been carrying out at the proposed site at Thackson’s Well, off Sewstern Lane, Long Bennington, where they plan to build ten 410ft turbines.

Visitors to the exhibition at Allington Village Hall were asked to fill in a questionnaire and they were able to ask specialist staff about the test results and the wind farm proposal.

Campaigner Jamie Millar was outside giving out leaflets outlining why he is against the proposals, but the Journal spoke to several villagers as they left who were broadly in favour of the windfarm.

Another exhibition will be held today in Long Bennington Village Hall between 2pm and 8pm.

A public debate, organised by local parish councils, will be held on Monday, October 22, at 7.30pm at the Methodist Chapel, Main Street, Long Bennington.

For more on the exhibitions and public reaction see next week’s Journal.
