Needham – Officials want the town to qualify for funding from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the state’s development agency for renewable energy, through the Clean Energy Choice program. Town Manager Kate Fitzpatrick said Needham would earn matching grants from the MTC for each household that opts to pay a premium on its energy bills to support renewable energy. The cost of the premium depends on the supplier. If 150 residents enroll in the program by April 30, she said, the town would qualify for a 2-kilowatt photovoltaic solar power system. – Laura M.
