Two views of wind farm plans

There will be two separate wind farm exhibitions held in Westnewton this month.

Broadview Energy Developments Limited wants to erect five wind turbines at Warwick Hall farm.

The application has attracted widespread opposition, and on Tuesday the parish council is to hold an exhibition at the village hall between 9am and 9pm.

Visitors can view the company’s planning application and get help on how to submit their comments to Allerdale council.

The planning application includes maps and photo-montages that will help visitors to determine how the proposed wind farm will affect them.

John Ryden, chairman of the parish council, said: “Visitors will be able to view the information without the spin and selling associated with developer presentations.

“Westnewton Parish Council urges residents from Westnewton and other villages under threat from wind farm developments to come along and see what the developers have in store for you.”

On Tuesday, October 16, the developer will hold its own event at the hall from 7pm.

The company’s directors and consultants will be there to answer questions about the wind farm.

Managing director Jeffrey Corrigan said: “We are staging the exhibition because we wish to share as much information as possible with the local community, both on the project itself and on its benefits.”

Anyone who cannot attend the meeting can find more information about the plans at www.westnewtonwind.co.uk.

The closing date for comments to be sent to Allerdale council is October 22.
