E.On to buy Airtricity North America

Renewable energy firm Airtricity has agreed to sell its North American business unit to E.ON for approximately $1.4 billion.

Airtricity North America began operating in 2003 and is active in nine US states.

Airtricity also operates wind farms throughout the island of Ireland and Scotland. It supplies green energy to over 35,000 commercial customers in Ireland.

German energy giant E.ON is also involved in the renewable sector, with wind farms in the UK, Germany, the Nordic region and the Iberian Pensinula.
