Guardians dispute wind farm study findings

The Victorian Landscape Guardians are rejecting the results of a study that indicate more than 80 per cent of people are happy to live near a wind farm.

West Wind Energy commissioned the report before announcing its plans for a wind farm south of Ballarat, in the Lal Lal area of central Victoria.

The guardian’s Victorian president, Randall Bell, says he is not surprised by the level of support indicated in the study.

“Not really. I mean we all know push polling has been around since Adam was a small boy,” he said.

“I’ve always felt that it doesn’t matter what the polls says. Were the people that were polled well-informed?

“I think that’s the first question, because if I want to come to some sort of conclusion about somebody’s opinion the first thing I want to know is, was that person well-informed?”
