Dulais Valley councillors fear turbines could be on the way after hearing a planning application for a wind farm has been submitted.
Land between the Dulais and Neath valleys has long been earmarked for wind farm developments.
While an application for 15 turbines at Maesgwyn does not immediately affect Crynant residents, village councillors are expecting further applications to follow.
County councillor Edward Morgan told the community council: “The first planning application has come to the planning committee for the wind farm at Maesgwyn.
“This is the first of a number which are going to be brought before the committee.”
Another wind farm, planned for the Seven Sisters area of the valley, is believed to include up to 50 turbines.
Councillor Heather Coats said: “I think we have to keep an eye on the Seven Sisters one, because they are very close.
“The nearest one is only a mile from houses.
“There is a case for us to say we don’t want them to be too near houses.”
