Air views on Marshland wind farm

Residents will give their verdict on controversial plans for a wind farm near Marshland St James in a parish poll next week.

The poll, demanded by residents at a parish meeting last month, will ask residents whether they want wind turbines on land within or surrounding the parish of Marshland St James.

Anger greeted the news that as many as 26 wind turbines could be built in the village and an anti-turbine protest group, Fenland Landscapes Against Turbines (FLAT) was formed to fight the proposal.

Crowds of people attended a series of packed public meetings held to discuss the issue and feeling has been running high in the village since the plans first came to light in April.

Villagers are invited to vote at the village’s Jubilee Hall between 4pm and 9pm on Thursday.
