Wind farm rejection recommended

Planning officials have recommended rejection of plans for a 15-turbine wind farm about five miles south of Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway.

The proposals at Minnygap on the Annandale Estate have provoked more than 200 letters of objection.

RES Developments Ltd said the scheme could meet the electricity needs of more than 15,000 homes.

However, a report to councillors recommended rejection of the plans on the grounds of their visual impact.

The Scottish Government recently approved plans for the second largest wind farm in Scotland at an adjoining site.

The Harestanes project will comprise a total of 71 turbines.
