The American Wind Energy Association paid Capitol Tax Partners LLP $140,000 in first half of 2007 to lobby the federal government, according to a disclosure form.
The firm lobbied on extended tax credits for the wind power industry, according to the form posted online Monday by the Senate’s public records office.
Some of the trade group’s members include General Electric Co., BP PLC and FPL Group Inc.
Among those registered to lobby on behalf of the trade group are: Jon Talisman, former Clinton administration assistant Treasury secretary for tax policy; Rick Grafmeyer, who was deputy chief of staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation; Joe Mikrut, former Treasury tax legislative counsel in the Clinton and Bush administrations; Lawrence Willcox, former staff director of the Senate Republican Policy Committee; and Mac McKenney, who was staff director of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight.
Under a federal law enacted in 1995, lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches. They must register with Congress within 45 days of being hired or engaging in lobbying.
