Wind farms in Scone

Just having visited your beautiful town to participate in the wind power forum I am stunned that a windfarm would even be considered in such a scenic area that has so far escaped the ravages of industrialization.

What people must understand is that windfarms cannot and will never replace coal. To say that you would prefer to have a windfarm to a coal station is to be misguided. Everone would love that to be the case but is simply impossible.

Try this simple exercise. Ask your developer to give you verifiable evidence as to how much electricity was fed into the grid from any operating windfarm in Australia and how much reduction in greenhouse gases resulted. Then ask how much less coal was shovelled as a result of that windfarm or in fact all of the windfarms in Australia combined.

If you get an answer let me know as I have been asking for 5 years. Ask the developer if he has ever built a windfarm or does he just intend to sell the permit to an overseas company as most developers in this sham do.

You should all be proud of your town and stop, have a good look around and think of what losing for no benefits. Don,t let your government follow Victoria’s lead and trash your landscape. You only have the one.
