Opposition to wind turbine plan

Residents of Great Houghton will meet with Asda officials tomorrow, to discuss plans for a wind turbine at Brackmills.

The supermarket company has not yet formally submitted a planning application to West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC), but its presentations have met opposition from parish councils.

Tony Skirrow, chairman of Great Houghton Parish Council, said: “We’re opposed to the plans because we feel it is being done for the wrong reasons and that this is not a “green” thing, but a financial thing.

“Asda would stand to gain from all sorts of incentives and the proposal was not handled in the best way.”

The open meeting will be held at Great Houghton village hall tomorrow, from 6pm.

Asda representatives will be giving a presentation on its turbine plans, followed by a question and answer session about the Brackmills scheme.
