Support for opposition

Through your editorial section we wish to express our support in similar terms to those of Jim and Noreen Marshall (Scone Advocate August 30) concerning the proposed windfarms at Middlebrook and Mountain Stations.

Our family properties, where sixth generation family members live are located on the western side of Mountain Station in close proximity to proposed windfarm in that area.

We believe that the location of the windfarm development is totally inappropriate in the proposed area and would be far better suited in an area further down the valley, where the coal mine overburden heaps and power station sites exist.

Our reasons in adopting this stance are: the likely pollution and blight on the landscape caused by proposed thirty-five (35) wind turbines on the mountain line, the very real possibility of noise of flicker from the turbines, damage and loss of flora and fauna and the unknown level of control of noxious animals.

When these reasons are considered it should be obvious if this development is approved that a significant devaluation of properties in the area will eventuate.

The persons/authorities responsible for processing and approving this development will not be affected as they will not be located in the immediate area of the development.

We believe that the minimal amount of energy generated will not justify the overall damage to the environment and the extreme dissatisfaction to effected land owners.

The only benefits to be obtained may be by the investors backing the proposed development.
