Turbine plans condemned by locals

Plans to put up a 131ft (40m) high wind turbine in the Black Country have been criticised by local residents.

Quarry owners Ibstock have submitted plans to erect the temporary structure close to the village of Essington.

It will be used to measure weather conditions. It could lead to a bigger, permanent turbine being built on the site, near the M54.

However, those living near the proposed site have said the turbine would be a blot on the landscape.
