Brockton wants wind farm rules

Brockton wants to set up rules and regulations with regards to wind farms.

Mayor Charlie Bagnato expects the study to cost up to 20 thousand dollars, calling it a small price to pay to eliminate a lot of problems in the future.

The study will recommend rules, regulations and setback distances for wind farms.

Brockton will put these recommendations into its Official Plan.

Bagnato says this policy will ensure they are ready for any wind farm proposals.

He says it far better to settle these things out now rather than trying to hash them out at the Ontario Municipal Board.

Bagnato notes the study isn’t intended to discourage wind farms, just ensure the municipalities interests are protected.

So far there haven’t been any wind farm proposals in Brockton, but Bagnato says it’s only a matter of time.
