Wind Power defends information release

The company planning to build a wind farm at Stockyard Hill, west of Ballarat in south-west Victoria, says it released as much information as possible at a community consultation meeting on the weekend.

Wind Power has been criticised for not detailing how much power the turbines will create or the savings in greenhouse gas emissions.

Wind Power director Andrew Newbould says this information will be addressed in the planning application.

“Not all details of the project are known. They develop over time as we conduct further environmental studies,” he said.

“We thought it appropriate to engage with the community early and now we will be going through our environmental and technical studies and to enable us to design the wind farm and give the information that the community is looking for.”
