Who was consulted?

I read the statement by John Price of AMEC that they had consulted widely in the community regarding their proposed planning application for the Wind Farm on Findowie Hill.

I wonder just who they consulted. The community council of Dunkeld and Birnam, through whose area the juggernauts carrying any wind turbines would have to pass, were certainly not consulted.

There were apparently no plans by AMEC to consult directly with this community since they held only one exhibition of their intentions in Bankfoot and it was only through my request that AMEC agreed to have a public exhibition in Trochry.

Now we learn that they intend to submit their planning application on Friday, July 27, one day after their exhibition in Trochry. Is this AMEC’s idea of consultation?

AMEC also seem to have adopted a ruse used by other Wind Farm planners. They first put forward a plan for many more turbines and then after their “consultations” they reduce this to what they think will be a more acceptable number of turbines.

When will these companies realise that Highland Perthshire is not the place for wind farms of any size? This is a magnificent area visited by tourists from across the globe. It should not be the site of an industrial generating plant.
