CLEAR LAKE, S.D. Deuel County officials have approved permits that allow construction of special towers to measure wind speeds at different heights.
An Oregon firm that’s building a wind farm in Brookings County will do the research to see if it should erect turbines in Deuel County, too.
PPM Energy is the second largest wind development firm in the nation.
It has installed 2,000 megawatts of wind energy in the U.S. and 6,000 megawatts worldwide.
