Sports car manufacturer Lotus has unveiled an artist’s impression of the controversial wind farm planned for its Hethel headquarters.
Green energy company Ecotricity is seeking planning consent to build three 120m turbines in the centre of the test track.
The giant structures would be capable of generating 6MW – sufficient power for all Lotus’s needs with enough surplus to supply 1,300 homes.
The Green Party has backed the proposal but there are strong objections from local landowners, farmers, companies and residents who fear their lives and properties would be blighted.
There are also concerns about the impact of the development on rare birds of prey and other species living in nearby woodland.
