The Government wants to change our planning system.
If such changes are implemented people will no longer have a say in what happens in the area in which they live.
That means, if some faceless official sitting in an unelected regional assembly, feels that someone’s pleasant rural countryside would be ‘improved’ if a nuclear power station, wind farm, or waste incinerator were built there, then, to put it bluntly, there is nothing they will be able to do about it.
Worry not, if you live next door to a brand new waste incinerator, and your house is now worthless, tough, the unelected regional assembly knows best.
One can see the proposed large county waste incinerator near St Day, and the plans for 20 new wind turbines on the north Cornish coast slipping through on the nod with no public consultation.
Cornwall Branch of CPRE has been against these eyesores, despoiling our wonderful countryside, and will continue to fight by whatever means possible.
