The company building a wind farm off the Lincolnshire coast has apologised for loud noises that woke residents during the night.
Centrica said changes in wind direction meant people in the Skegness area could hear loud bangs caused by the work.
Police received several calls after people were woken at about 0215 BST.
Centrica said it had government consent to work 24 hours a day on the project and had been doing so for some time without any problems.

Mike Perry, who runs a hotel in Skegness, said many of his guests were disturbed.
“It went on for about half an hour. It sounded like someone was in the garden was banging an oil drum with a hammer.
“The vibration, in the quiet of the night, made me think of Jurassic Park.”
Andrew Hampson from Centrica explained the noise was caused by piling work to put in foundations for the turbines.
“We have been doing this since April and are about halfway through the work and we have had very few complaints.
“But we are sorry there was a disturbance and while there is a chance these conditions will arise again will continue to do all we can to minimise this.”
