On Sunday, July 15, when we came home from church about 11:30 a.m., a small yellow airplane was swooping across a corn field just southwest of our place. Yes, it was a crop duster.
How interesting – last November at the ZBA hearings, when the chance to crop dust being eliminated if and when 400-foot-high wind towers would dot about 4,500 acres in this area was questioned, someone very quickly responded that no one does that anymore.
We saw the plane make the last pass in our area about 7:45 p.m. just southeast of us. A lot of acres were covered in these 8-plus hours. This was near Waddams Grove, Crossroads and West Fisher roads. Right in the “footprint” (as it is now called) of the EcoGrove Wind Farm. Some of these fields certainly must be fields in which wind towers are scheduled to be constructed.
Even if these people don’t care if they no longer can crop dust, is this just one more strike against the neighbor who is not part of the wind farm project and may need to have crops dusted in the future?
Just wanted to share our observation. They have been back crop dusting in our immediate area since I started writing this letter.
