State needs windmill plan

In regard to windmills, I feel for many farmers in this area. They are going out of business rapidly, and the chance for some money for lease of their land is inviting.

But the truth is: in one hand and out the other. They may get paid for the windmills, but eventually lose money and more with the devaluation of their property caused by these space-age monsters.

And monsters they are, these 400-foot windmills with little red lights at their peaks.

The villains in this scenario are the dysfunctional state Legislature and the energetic but too widespread governor.

The state needs a plan for windmills. Where should they be placed to offer the most reward and the least damage? Instead, we have no policy and a bunch of entrepreneurs seeking a quick buck and then getting out.

And who is going to take care of the damage after the windmills have ended their usefulness? There they will sit, huge steel creatures, destroying the landscape for scores of miles around.
