Concern over plan for three turbines

Objections have been lodged over plans for three wind turbines in a North-east community.

Cardiff-based firm Eco 2 want to erect the trio of turbines which would each stand at 80 metres.

Residents living near the site, at Kirktown of Auchterless near Turriff, have raised concerns including the impact on wildlife, noise pollution and a potential loss of TV and phone reception.

The applicant previously held a public exhibition on the turbines which attracted scores of people.

Planners have recommended that councillors approve the scheme on a number of conditions.

A decision is expected to be made on the plans at a meeting of the Formartine area committee on Tuesday.

The same firm has lodged a separate application for 40-metre-high wind testing equipment on the same site to determine if the area is right for an energy project.

The apparatus would be used to collect wind speed data over two years.

Council planners have recommended the application for approval.
