TransAlta Corp. said on Tuesday it would expand its Kent Hills wind power project by more than 20 megawatts, raising costs by more than 30 percent.
The project’s total capital cost is now expected to be C$170 million ($163.5 million), up from C$130 million.
The power company said it will build 32 turbines, up from the original 25 turbines, expanding the output at the New Brunswick-based project to 96 megawatts from 75 megawatts.
The project, subject to regulatory and environmental approval, is expected to begin in early 2008.
