Wind energy a possibility in Geneva
The town of Geneva is thinking about going green. Town board members agreed to begin discussions with billionaire Tom Golisano’s company Empire State Wind Energy.
The company is interested in developing wind farms and leaders say they’re at the very first stages of the process, listening to what the company wants to do.
“I think it’s something we really need to explore because with energy crisis that we have, and you talk about green space, I think this is something that really needs to be looked at for energy wise, economy wise and something that would help our area,” said Mary Luckern, Geneva Town Supervisor.
Luckern says the public will get many chances to voice their opinions. Several other wind farm proposals have run into community opposition around New York State.
Golisano’s company is also pitching the wind power idea in Wayne County.
