Don't look to wind energy as a climate solution

The impact of climate change in Pennsylvania and the world is certainly a great concern that demands effective and long-term solutions. I would submit that continuous referrals to wind energy as such a solution are erroneous. Wind energy in Pennsylvania or neighboring states is not green. Wind energy is expensive, inefficient, destroys the environment and, as importantly, is a great tax shelter for corporations and the wealthy.

Does it make sense to deforest the ridge tops of Pennsylvania and destroy our forests in order to solve global warming? It seems to me that we need more trees and less urban sprawl. We need leaders with the vision to encourage energy conservation through more fuel-efficient automobiles and trucks and the elimination of the wasteful habits of this society.

Wind energy in Pennsylvania will not do anything to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, to decrease our energy-wasteful habits or decrease the threat of global warming. Wind energy in Pennsylvania will divert precious resources that could be better used in actually combating global warming.
