Parish councillors have called a public meeting to discuss proposals for a windfarm in their rural south Norfolk community.
Renewable power company SLP Energy is looking to build a total of seven turbines on a site in Semere Green Lane, five of which would be in Dickleburgh, and one each in neighbouring Pulham Market and Pulham St Mary.
The site is less than 10 miles from Hempnall, where a similar proposal has sparked fierce opposition from villagers who have launched an action group to oppose the development.
SLP is seeking consent to put up a temporary 60m meteorological mast to measure how much wind is generated at the Dickleburgh site, to find out whether it is a suitable location.
The company also has South Norfolk Council to conduct a “scoping opinion”, which seeks the views of statutory bodies including parish councils prior to submitting an environmental assessment.
Some villagers have already indicated their support for the windfarm.
But there is also expected to be local opposition as the site is close to a recently opened bridleway used by horseriders, and at 125m tall the turbines would have an impact on the surrounding countryside.
Dickleburgh and Rushall Parish Council discussed the scheme at their meeting on Thursday.
Rather than go into technical details, it was agreed to consult other residents and obtain more information before making a formal response.
The public meeting will be held at Dickleburgh village centre at 7pm on Wednesday, July 25.
South Norfolk Council has extended the deadline for comments to Thursday August 9.
