Protest against village land acquisition by Suzlon Co.

Udupi, Jul 9: A protest against Suzlon Company was held by the public at Padubidri.

They were protesting against the company for acquiring the land that belonged to the Kanchinadka higher primary school.

Suzlon Company had started the process of acquiring the land for their proposed wind energy project.

Several houses were vacated for the sake of the project. The villagers are of the opinion that the decision of the company to acquire school play ground was not correct.

Hence the villagers held a meeting under the auspices of school development committee and decided not to surrender the play ground to the Suzlon Company.

The company has currently suspended the survey work in the school playground after the protest.
