Wind energy project too close to people

An open letter to Gov. [Chris] Gregoire:

In the next two weeks you will decide the fate of thousands who work, live and play in the Kittitas Valley. Before you is the Kittitas Valley Wind Energy Project’s approval or denial. Our county commissioners concluded that there are too many problems with this project that cannot be mitigated. The project is too close to residential and recreational properties and will affect too many people, as well as wildlife. Many of these properties are owned by people who live or work in Western Washington.

Allowing a huge industrial wind farm to be placed just anywhere in our county would be irresponsible. That is why there is so much public opposition to the project. Likewise for a second wind farm proposed near the same area.

I urge you to be true to your word when you dedicated the Wild Horse project two years ago. You said that you would not support a project that had community opposition.
