I believe that when wind turbines first appeared in this country legislation regarding their siting set a minimum distance from the nearest dwelling.Presumably this was in an attempt to prevent noise, blade flicker, dominance of the landscape etc., having too adverse an effect on the residents.
The greater the height and size of a turbine, the greater must be the distance at which those effects will be felt.
As shown in your article (WMN Monday, June 4) the height of turbines in the South West has so far increased from 161ft at Delabole to 394ft at Den Brook, North Tawton. The size and diameter of the blades are similarly larger.
Has the minimum separation of turbines from dwellings been increased?
If not, why not?
