Wind farm changes to boost energy

The design of the proposed Lexton wind farm, north-west of Ballarat, will be altered so it can produce more energy.

The turbines planned to be used in the 19-tower farm now are not being made, forcing the company, Wind Power, to buy more expensive ones.

The new turbines will generate more energy, making the wind farm large enough to require Victorian Government approval.

But a Wind Power spokesman, Andrew Newbold, says the new turbines will not look any different.

“The alternative turbines in fact confirm exactly to the permit in every respect in relation to height, noise, blades, etc, so there’s no visible effect by the change,” he said.
