Proposal for turbines revealed

Plans for windfarms at three sites in Montgomeryshire have now been revealed.

Acciona Energy has announced today it intends to submit planning applications to Powys County Council for permission to generate electricity from wind at Waun Garno and Mynydd y Cemmaes.

And Tirgwynt Partners and RDC Developments have established a joint venture, Awel Newydd Cif, to develop Tirgwynt Wind Farm on land between Carno and Cefn Coch.

Planning applications are likely to be submitted later this year.

Mike Paffey, senior development manager of Acciona Energy, said: “We believe these sites offer the best opportunities for developing projects which will help meet our future energy needs from renewable sources.”

Exhibitions of the proposal for Mynydd y Cemmaes will be held at Llanbrynmair Community Centre on June 14, from noon-8pm, and Glantwymyn Community Centre on June 18, from 4-8pm.

Exhibitions for the Waun Garno development will be on June 15 at Carno Community Centre, from noon-8pm, and at Trefeglwys Memorial Hall, on June 19, from noon-7pm. The Awel Newydd proposals will be exhibited at Cefn Coch Church Hall on Monday and at Carno Community Hall on June 12, from 2pm-8pm.
