Drilling rig torched at proposed wind farm

An arson fire caused $80,000 damage to a drilling rig used to drill soil samples at the site of a proposed wind farm in Schuylkill County.

A state police fire marshal said someone intentionally set the fire at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The rig was used to take samples at the site off Route 924 Between Shenandoah and Brandonville in North Union Twp.

State police are asking anyone with information to call them at 570-874-5300.
