Medford has just received a $250,000 grant from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to design and build a 100-kilowatt wind turbine at the McGlynn Elementary/Middle School.
The city’s Energy and Environment Office and the Medford Clean Energy Committee had spent several years trying to get funding for this initiative.
When complete, the wind turbine is expected to provide about 10 percent of the school’s energy needs.
