Commercial turbines need state regulation

Commercial turbines need state regulation

Recently a vote was passed to allow two 400-foot commercial wind turbines with new roads to be built in or near a Buzzards Bay watershed area called Little Bay in Fairhaven.

There appears to be a lack of state rules and regulations for setbacks to residential homes, setbacks to wetlands, impacts on wildlife, health and welfare, safety risks and abutter notification of other surrounding towns.

Commercial wind energy is new to local governments, and the permit process appears to be uneven. There appears to be a rush to approve permits by local towns to install one or two turbines with the hopes of reversing atmospheric emissions.

We need a set of conforming state laws and regulations for all the cities and towns of Massachusetts.
