Windfarm consultation blasted by objectors

Next Thursday’s exhibition outlining a proposed Ceres windfarm is inconvenient in its timing and location, according to a local action group that opposes the project.

Ceres and District Environment and Amenity Protection Group has blasted EnergieKontor, the company behind the development over its attempts at public consultation.

The public exhibition being presented by EnergieKontor, the company behind the development, will be held in Craigrothie village hall on May 24 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

EnergieKontor will present information and photomontages of its plans to build a 13-turbine windfarm at Gathercauld.

The Ceres action group’s spokesman Graham Lang said the developer had not publicised the event and his own group had tried to raise local awareness.

“If this is EnergieKontor’s attempt to engage with the public, their four-hour exhibition on a week day, in a location not at all convenient to many of the communities involved is a bit stingy to say the least,” Mr Lang said.

“The exhibition should be on a Saturday and they should be running courtesy buses.”

EnergieKontor UK manager Judith Cornfield said the company had wanted to hold the exhibition in Ceres, but a venue could not found.

The exhibition’s time tried to overlap daytime and evening, while choosing a working day allowed Fife Council planning department staff to attend.

“Whatever time we pick, it will not be suitable for some people,” she said.
