The Ontario Municipal Board wrapping up the second week of hearings into the Enbridge Wind Farm project in Kincardine.
Day 7 of the hearings into the proposed 500-million dollar project concluded yesterday with testimony from Enbridge’s planner Bill Pol.
Pol testified to Adjudicator J.P. Atcheson that Enbridge’s plan to erect 110 wind turbines meet the setback requirements as stated in both Bruce County and Kincardine Official Plans.
This was the first opportunity that the proponent was able to present their side of the dispute this week.
Much of the hearings this week was focused on the appellant side where their planner presented evidence of setbacks and noise concerns.
Appellant Kathy McCarrell of Windfarm Action Group says 3 witnesses who live near windfarms testified that they’ve experienced noise problems coming from wind turbines.
One witness says they complained of noise coming from a turbine even though they lived 25 hundred metres from it.
McCarrell says both she and the other appellents were not prepared with the tennis-like structure of the hearing where one side takes turns presenting their case.
She expected to have one side present their entire case and then the other side presenting their’s.
The OMB hearing resumes Monday morning at 10 AM in the Kincardine Council Chambers where Pol will continue with his testimony.
