Public meeting on Ceres windfarm

The planning application for a proposed windfarm in Ceres could be submitted to Fife Council within weeks.
EnergieKontor, the company behind the development, will hold a public exhibition in Craigrothie village hall on May 24.

Project manager Mick McLoughlin told the Fife Herald this week the planning application could coincide with the exhibition because the company was close to confirming its plans.

EnergieKontor has proposed a 13-turbine development at Gathercauld.

Mr McLoughlin said both he and EnergieKontor UK general manager Judith Cornfield would attend the Craigrothie public exhibition, to be held between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The event would display the layout of the site and photomontages showing how the turbines would appear on the landscape as well as discuss issues such as noise, shadow flicker and visual impact.

Ceres and District Environment and Amenity Protection Group, which opposes the windfarm, believed EnergieKontor’s exhibition did not give local people much opportunity to put their views.

“Four years in the preparation, much detailed consultation with Fife Council and other bodies and the only time they can give to the communities affected is four hours,” said spokesman Graham Lang.
