Comments sought on wind farm

A public meeting is planned Wednesday, May 2, at 7 p.m. at The Dalles Civic Auditorium to discuss the Cascade Wind Project proposed on Sevenmile Hill by UPC Wind Development LLC.

The Oregon Department of Energy is holding this public information meeting to help people understand the process, to answer questions, and to hear comments. The applicant’s representatives will be there as well.

On April 10, UPC submitted a preliminary application for a site certificate for the proposed Cascade Wind Project. The proposed facility is a wind energy facility that would have a peak generating capacity of approximately 60 megawatts. The proposed site is at Sevenmile Hill, near The Dalles.

A detailed description is in sections B and C of the Application for Site Certificate.

The public may review the application at the Oregon Department of Energy in Salem, at The Dalles Public Library, 722 Court Street, The Dalles, and at the Wasco County Land Use Department, 2705 East Second Street, The Dalles.

The applicant has posted the preliminary application on the Cascade Wind website.

The Department is reviewing the application for completeness, and asking for public comments. Later comment opportunities will also be available, but but if the application is unclear, or if information is missing, this is the best opportunity to request that information.
