The turbines will turn

A decision has been made.

After months of debate, the Ontario Municipal Board has decided to allow the CAW to erect a wind turbine.

The property set aside for the development is at Bruce Road 25 and Highway 21 in Port Elgin.

Although the application for construction has been approved, Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith says there are some conditions the CAW must abide by.

The conditions include finalizing the site plan agreement, putting together an opperation mannual and an emergency manual as well as planting 25 trees to help with visual impact.

Smith says wheter or not you agree with the OMB decision, its all how you interperate the development into the guidlines set up by the municipality and the county for the future of the area.

Saugeen Shores Council originaly rejected the application from the CAW because they felt the project exceeded the municipality’s zoning bylaw.
