Subsidy must be removed

At last, many of Scotland’s aspiring politicians understand the damage being done to our wild and beautiful landscapes by massive windfarm development.

Energy companies are seeking permission for thousands of giant turbines.

Tackling climate change does not require Scotland’s world-famous scenery to be scarred by the industrial infrastructure of turbines, access roads and transmission lines.

What will this do for tourism, Scotland’s largest industry? There are better ways to meet the climate change challenge.

Have those who seek your vote understood how to stop these turbines? Do they know you are funding them through your electricity bill?

This subsidy must be removed through action by politicians at all levels, from councils to Holyrood to Westminster.

Alison Mitchell, Convener, Ramblers’ Association Scotland.
