The company building wind turbines and farms in Blair and surrounding counties is planning a town hall meeting to provide information and take questions.
The public event is set for 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Blair County Convention Center.
Gamesa representatives will speak about wind energy, turbine construction and renewable energy, company representative Neil Simpkins said. He said they will address questions about the effect turbines have on the environment.
Gamesa is the company that built the Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm spanning Greenfield and Juniata townships in Blair County and Portage, Washington and Cresson townships in Cambria County.
The company also is interested in building farms in Logan, Snyder and Tyrone townships, Gamesa representatives said at a recent Logan meeting. It has been testing locations in those municipalities.
Logan Township is an excellent resource for wind power, Josh Framel of Gamesa Energy USA told township officials. But to make a wind farm work, the company has asked Logan to enlarge its zone designated for turbines.
The company says the site is not big enough, and it wants an additional 300 acres included.
The company also wants Logan to remove a restriction prohibiting construction of turbines within a 2,000-foot radius of wetlands.
Supervisors turned the requests over to the Planning Commission for study and a recommendation.
